
Witold Stelmachniewicz1970
Born in 1970, he studied at the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, graduating in 1996. In the same year, he joined the Faculty of Painting as a member of its academic staff. Since 2011, he has headed the Drawing Studio, and since 2018 he has been the Head of the Painting Studio. Between 2016 and 2024, he served two consecutive terms as Dean of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. He has held numerous solo exhibitions and participated in dozens of group exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Spain, Hungary, and Ukraine. He lives and works in Kraków. His works are included in the collections of the MOCAK Museum of Contemporary Art in Kraków, the A.R.I.A.P. Foundation in Lille (France), and in private collections in Poland and internationally. In 2019, he was awarded the Bronze Medal for Merit to Culture – Gloria Artis. Painting remains the central focus of his artistic practice.
