Artur Wawrzkiewicz1987
(Born in 1987 in Częstochowa) Painter, Doctor of Arts, and university lecturer, he is affiliated with the Faculty of Art at Jan Długosz University in Częstochowa (UJD), where he currently serves as Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs. He graduated with distinction in Painting and, in 2024, earned a Doctor of Arts degree in Fine Arts and Art Conservation by defending his doctoral dissertation entitled "Non-Realism," supervised by Dr. hab. Jakub Jakubowski, Professor at UJD. His artistic practice focuses on oil painting, combining realistic elements with geometric order and a symbolic understanding of form and space. His paintings frequently feature still lifes, animal figures, and human subjects—including self-portraits—juxtaposed with abstract compositions that generate new meanings and open broader interpretative possibilities. His work engages in dialogue with both classical painting and the historical avant-garde, drawing inspiration from Cubism, Op Art, and Neo-Plasticism. Wawrzkiewicz has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. His works have been presented in art galleries, cultural institutions, exhibitions, and art festivals. He is also the recipient of the Grand Prize at the 14th "Steel Angels" Contemporary Art Festival in Bytom. He lives and works in Częstochowa, combining his artistic practice with academic teaching. His painting represents a conscious dialogue with artistic tradition and a personal reflection on the image as a space of meaning.
